Angelo Candalepas. Buildings and Projects

Angelo Candalepas. Buildings and Projects

In his mid-twenties, Australian Angelo Candalepas won an international competition in residential construction in Sydney. His architectural practice, founded in 1999, can now look back on a series of groundbreaking buildings, such as the National Architecture Award-winning mosque in the suburb of Punchbowl near Sydney. Drawing inspiration from past masters of architecture, such as Louis I. Kahn, Carlo Scarpa, and Le Corbusier, as well as eminent Australian architects like Glenn M. Murcutt, Richard Johnson, and Colin Madigan, Candalepas has incorporated their legacy into a wholly original body of work of a quality rarely found in Australian contemporary architecture. This monograph shows Candalepas’s key works, illustrated by photographs, plans, views, as well as hand drawings and sketches.
